Murer Foundation
By · April 13, 2011 · CommentsSomething very exciting is happening in Folsom. The Murer Foundation is working on opening the John Murer house and grounds for tours. What a great opportunity to learn not only some of the history of Folsom but some Italian history and learn about Italian traditions. The property was put into a 40 year trust to be used as a historical site. Currently the house and grounds are under the Parks and Recreation Department but volunteers work on the property donating their time and/or money to maintain the buildings and grounds. The public you can rent space for classes or use the grounds for small events.
The grounds and house will be open during the Folsom Garden Tour being held April 3oth and May 1st. Be sure to stop by and enjoy a little piece of history. By the way, donations are always welcome!
Renassiance Faire
By · October 28, 2009 · CommentsThere are endless things to do in Folsom. I recently went to the Renassiance Faire. I was amazed at how the park was changed into a village complete with it’s own jousting arena! All the costumes, food and people talking in a funny language was entertaining.
The best thing is the fact it was a fundraiser for two local charities. What a fun way to donate money to charity and have an enjoyable time.
Folsom Rodeo
By · July 7, 2009 · CommentsWow, the rodeo this year was so much fun, but then again, it is fun every year. Some years the weather dictates how fun it is though. It was hot when we arrived but as the rodeo went on the weather cooled off. It is always fun to watch the flag come in from the skydiver. He has done this for numerous years now. Of course, the color guard and the tribute to the military is always special as well.
The Chamber outdid itself this year in the fireworks display. Thanks to GenCorp for their generous donation which allowed for fireworks throughout the 3 days of the rodeo. Somehow it just wouldn’t be Independence Day without fireworks and the rodeo! The City of Folsom is very lucky to be able to provide such wonderful activities the community can participate in.
Happy Easter
By · April 10, 2009 · CommentsSpring is a wonderful time of year. Shedding the winter coats in favor of shorts and sandels is always a great feeling. Easter seems to mark the beginning of that transformation. The flowers are blooming, bright colors show up again and the days are lighter longer. But Easter is a fun day to relax, share an outing with family and friends and watch the kids look for colored eggs and get chocolate on their faces.
So, Happy Easter. Make it not only a great day but a wonderful spring.

Folsom Lake Crossing
By · March 29, 2009 · CommentsNow that all the ceremonies are over and the bridge is open it will be interesting to see how the traffic changes. It has been along time since we have had an alternative route to get to central Folsom and not need to travel via Riley St. Having said that it was a fun event to be able to walk across the bridge and not have to worry about traffic. And, perhaps spring has sprung – the weather cooperated fully. I did hear people still discussing the name of the bridge. Oh, well, all of this is now history.
However, it was truly a day to celebrate.
