Murer Foundation
By · April 13, 2011 · CommentsSomething very exciting is happening in Folsom. The Murer Foundation is working on opening the John Murer house and grounds for tours. What a great opportunity to learn not only some of the history of Folsom but some Italian history and learn about Italian traditions. The property was put into a 40 year trust to be used as a historical site. Currently the house and grounds are under the Parks and Recreation Department but volunteers work on the property donating their time and/or money to maintain the buildings and grounds. The public you can rent space for classes or use the grounds for small events.
The grounds and house will be open during the Folsom Garden Tour being held April 3oth and May 1st. Be sure to stop by and enjoy a little piece of history. By the way, donations are always welcome!
Cardiac Hill #2
By · March 3, 2009 · CommentsToday I experienced Cardiac Hill #2 in Folsom. It was raining and I couldn’t really go out to the actual Cardiac Hill (Iron Point Rd.) for my walk so I decided to go to 24 hour Fitness and take a cycle class. What an experience. I thought I was in relatively good shape until I took this class! Fast and slow, in and out of the seat. And the burn, at one point my left quad felt like it was on fire. Then all of a sudden I didn’t feel any more burning in my legs I was just determined to finish the class. Thank heaven the instructor had us stretch before we got off the bikes otherwise I might not have been able to stand upright. As I left the gym I wondered how many calories I burned and the fact that it was raining didn’t bother me a bit – I was already soaked.
Cardiac Hill
By · January 14, 2009 · CommentsWhen I moved back to Folsom one of the things I really appreciate about the city is their parks. It doesn’t matter where you live there is a bicycle/walking path or a park close by.
In a time when so many homes being built it is nice to have parks as a priority. Even if they aren’t completed when the homes are completed at least the city has set aside the land and will build them as the city budget allows.
Folsom is a great place to get into better physical condition. You simply have to walk or ride up Iron Point Road (I prefer to call it “Cardiac Hill”) and you not only burn loads of calories but your gluteus maximus may hurt the next day. Read More→
